The
principal jeweler at the Wedding Ring Workshop in San
Diego is our distinguished metalsmith, Jay Whaley. Jay
studied jewelry arts at Arizona State University, graduating
with a B.A. degree in Art Education.
Jay has been a Jewelry Instructor at UCSD Craft Center, La Jolla, CA, since 1985 and is an acknowledged Master at guiding students in their own projects involving both simple and complex casting and fabrication in colored golds and sterling silver.
As sole proprietor of Whaley Studios, he specializes
in special order custom jewelry work, as well as the
development and marketing of jewelry making tools for
the trade and the public.

The
Wedding Ring Experience was first created in London
as the result of a challenge thrown down by our founder,
Simon Lewis, in the locker room of his Rugby football
team after a game! Knowing of his fine reputation and
artistic skill as a jeweler, one of his team-mates asked
Simon if he would make the wedding bands for him and
his bride. Jokingly, Simon replied “Why don't you make
them yourself? I'll show you how.” The rest, as they
say - is history.
