The principal jeweler at the Wedding Ring Workshop for the Seattle area is our distinguished metalsmith, Maru Almeida.
Maru's artistic interest guided her to pursue both a BFA and an MFA in jewelry and metalsmithing from the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Oregon, respectively. Through her education she learned the necessary skills for working with precious materials and developed a true connection with the creative side of wearable art.
Maru's work has been featured in Metalsmith Magazine and is now part of the jewelry collection of the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, Oregon. Her wedding rings have recently been published in the book “500 Wedding Rings” by Lark Books.
Maru has been working as a professional jeweler for ten years and has taught at several institutions. With her passion for teaching and creating meaningful designs, your Wedding Ring Experience with her will surely be a compelling and memorable occasion. |
The Wedding Ring Experience was first created in London as the result of a challenge thrown down by our founder, Simon Lewis, in the locker room of his Rugby football team after a game! Knowing of his fine reputation and artistic skill as a jeweler, one of his team-mates asked Simon if he would make the wedding bands for him and his bride. Jokingly, Simon replied “Why don't you make them yourself? I'll show you how.” The rest, as they say - is history. |
